The welfare advice project is run by trained Somali speaking advice workers who support clients with: welfare benefits, Disbaility Living Allowance, Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance as well as housing and immigration problems.

This project is run in partnership with 4 Local advice agencies to meet the needs of local people. This service is funded by Tower Hamlets Council. OSCA is accredited with Community Legal Service Quality Mark Assurance (CLS).

The overwhelming demand for these service are by Somali women with language barriers, refugee and asylum seekers and clients facing debt problems. We also have an increasing community of North African and Middle Eastern residents accessing these services as some of our advice workers are also Arabic speakers.

The advice project has been running since 2004 and has seen, on average, more than 1200 clients annually so far. It continues to serve about twenty five people per week, who receive a range of support services including health, employment support, welfare benefits and dealing with other social issues.
