Ian Cameron’s story.

Sir John Cass School is one of the local schools we work with. On a recent visit to the school, the OSCA team met with the Assistant Head, Mr Ian Cameron, who had this to say." I am delighted that OSCA is in the community to provide the excellent services to Somali people. Particularly our students in Sir John Cass School, and their parents. We have been working with OSCA for the past two years and we have one of the Home school liaison officer based in the School.

The benefits to the school and parents are quite enormous, as we, the teachers are better able to communicate and discuss with parents the issues concerning the education of their students. More importantly, the level of achievement and confidence of our Somali students has improved greatly.” Good luck with your future work”.

Ms Hinda Omar’s story.

Ms Hinda has been a client on our S.Y.O.F.S project for the past year. Here s what she has to say about the support she and her family regularly receives from our team. “I just knew that I was going to get help for my son, Jamal, as soon as I walked into Burdett Street. The first person I spoke to was a young man, a Somali who spoke my language! For the last 12 months, they have been helping me to arrange visits to my son in prison, write letters, interpreting with authority, and they give support for childcare - this helps a lot because someone helps to look after my other children when I go to visit Jamal. They tell me that when Jamal comes home, OSCA will help him to find a job. I know they will.

Thank you everyone at OSCA.
