OSCA - Ocean Somali Community Association

OSCA is an innovative charity organisation running free services for residents in East London. Our aim is to provide support services for the Somali community in the East End of London to access opportunities, strengthen relationship with mainstream service providers to create social changes.

What We Do

  • Welfare Advice & Information

    Welfare Advice & Information

    The welfare advice project is run by trained Somali speaking advice workers who support clients with: welfare benefits, Disbaility Living Allowance, Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance as well as housing and immigration problems.

  • Home School Liaison

    Home School Liaison

    The Home Liaison project works with identified families, school staff and Somali students to overcome barriers which may be preventing children from achieving their full potential.

  • BME School Governors Recruitment

    BME School Governors Recruitment

    OSCA formed a Somali School Governors forum in 2010 to provide a coherent voice for governors when making representation and a vehicle for expressing collective views of Governing Bodies on matters of common concern at local level.

    The Routes 2 Employment project offers a customer focused service that treats people as individuals and offers a personalised approach to meet each individual’s needs.

  • Women Support & Health Activities

    Women Support & Health Activities

    The OSCA women’s projects have worked with over 300 women, delivered  over 10 workshops and have two active projects running: the women's user led project and the community against FGM project.

  • Family Support Project

    Family Support Project

    Family Support Programme works with identified families and we take referrals from social services and other agencies. We work with individual families to address concerns.
