The welfare advice project is run by a trained Somali speaking advice worker who supports clients with, welfare benefits, and housing and immigration problems. This project is run in partnership with 6 Local advice agencies to meet the advice needs of local people. This services is funded by Tower Hamlets Council. OSCA is accredited with community Legal Service Quality Mark Assurance (CLS). The overwhelming demands for these service are by Somali women with language barriers, refugee and asylum seekers, clients facing debt problems as evidenced for having such services.
The advice project has been running since 2004 and has seen more than 6000 clients so far. It continues to serve about twenty five people per week, who access a range of service advice including health, employment support, welfare benefits and dealing with other social issues.
